The brief asked for eighteen homes; the competition was won on a single idea: no flat would face only one direction. Access galleries run around the courtyard, so every home has a street side and a courtyard side, and air moves through it on a summer night.
The courtyard is the building's living room. Its paving, benches and the pergola over the entrance were designed with the future tenants in three workshops before construction began.
A ceramic lattice screens the galleries from the street, letting air and light through while keeping washing lines and doorways private.

Dieciocho viviendas de alquiler asequible en torno a un patio compartido, todas con ventanas a dos fachadas para ventilar de forma cruzada.
El programa pedía dieciocho viviendas; el concurso se ganó con una sola idea: ningún piso miraría a una única orientación. Las galerías de acceso rodean el patio, de modo que cada vivienda tiene un lado a calle y otro a patio, y el aire la atraviesa en las noches de verano.
El patio es el salón del edificio. Su pavimento, los bancos y la pérgola de la entrada se diseñaron con los futuros inquilinos en tres talleres antes de empezar la obra.
Una celosía cerámica protege las galerías de la calle: deja pasar el aire y la luz y mantiene en privado tendederos y puertas.
